William Francis Ransom, son of the late Charles Ransom and Aslee Profitt Ransom, was born on April 4, 1941. A native New Yorker, William, as a young man, was known as “Billy,” and his truck driver name was “Dollar Bill.” Bill received his wings on June 9, 2019.
Although Billy married a couple of times, he rekindled love with the love of his life, Lovice (lovingly called “Love”) and they lived their life by their own standards. They traveled the United States together as he worked for large freight carriers until he found Celadon in Indianapolis, where they decided to settle. Billy was a member of The Rock Missionary Baptist Church.
Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Lovice Williams-Ransom; and by his sons, Charles Ransom and Rev. Vernon Williams.
William “Billy” leaves to mourn, his daughter, Wendy Williams; sons, Anthony Averhart and Sean Averhart Williams; grandchildren, Vernon Jr, Aasiya Dunston, Anthony McMiller-Averhart, Taqiyya Averhart, Tashawna Averhart, Marquis Averhart, Solomon Williams, Mia Averhart, Kenan Chin, and Aaron Averhart; dearest friend and family in stay, Vicki Scott, Sigsbee Williams and Queen Williams; ex-wives, Laverne and Pinkie; and his church family and friends.
Billy will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Memorial Park Cemetery.

My sympathies to the Ransom family. I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s no way to really describe the pain one feels when he or she loses a loved one in death. Feelings of sadness and grief can be so overwhelming during this time of mourning. However, comfort from the scriptures can give you hope. John 5:28,29 speaks of the promise of the resurrection hope. What this can mean for your family is a real hope of being reunited with your dear loved ones at a time when “death will be no more.” (Revelation 21:4) May the God of all comfort be with you during this difficult time.

Our family is sorry to hear of the loss of our family member Billy. We haven’t been in touch for quite some time but are certainly saddened by this loss. His mother, the late Aslee Parrott Ransom and my grandmother, the late Ruby Parrott Gantt were sisters. Please feel free to contact us. You have our most sincerest condolences and pray that you are surrounded by love and peace during this difficult time. God bless you all.
